Applying basic principles in a brilliant way to make the world a better place
At Brilliantly Basic we use everyday concepts apply them brilliantly and, in the process, reduce the impact that we as humans have on our planet.
OUR VISION:
- That our technologies and insights will result in strong and healthy communities which will be less dependent
- That all organic landfill will be ameliorated into renewable resources and consumables
OUR MISSION:
- Using insect based technologies in order to change food factory byproducts into household necessities
- Developing simple technologies to allow the everyday household to produce food independently
OUR PROMISE TO YOU:
Sustainable and ethically sourced ingredients.
Our products do not contain sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), petrochemicals, palm oil or parabens.
Our products are not tested on animals.
We use natural preservatives such as natural anti-oxidants and vitamins.
We use reduced packaging which can be re-used, recycled or composted.
OUR APPROACH:
Our approach is two pronged. On the one hand we are bringing food production back into the household. Thereby reducing the carbon footprint of transporting food, reducing the use of packaging and thereby reducing the associated pollution. This also gives the consumer control over what goes into the household food trolley. It can involve children and the elderly and through the barter or buy markets it can once again bring communities together.
On the other hand, we must accept that we will always have food producers where there will be offcuts, peels and so forth. There will always be food that is removed from shelves and must be disposed off. This food is ameliorated using different insects. In the greater picture, insects were not intended to be pests but rather clean up agents. Today we simply have too much waste and pesticides to allow the insects to do this job. To address this, we take the waste and insects and put them in production systems where the insects consume these byproducts and turn them into chitin, protein and lipids. These products are then used in a multitude of applications from bio-fuel right through to animal feed, human food and cosmetics. The byproducts of this production system is mainly water vapor, heat and a soil enhancer which adds value to our severely depleted soils.
